EURACOM Final Conference: Securing Europe's energy infrastructure

The EURACOM Consortium is proud to announce and invite to its upcoming Roundtable and Final Conference 'Securing Europe's energy infrastructure' of January 24, 2011. This event, co-organized by EURACOM / EOS and SDA will take place from 12:00-16:00 o’clock at the Bibliothèque Solvay in Brussels. Marking the end of the EURACOM project, this Conference will summarize and present the conclusions drawn from the project.

With EU policymakers increasingly focused on security of energy supply, the need to protect Europe’s energy storage and transmission infrastructure (gas, oil, electricity) is clear, but what is really at stake? What are the current risk priorities and typical incidents, and do they accurately reflect the threats? How can Europe enhance the resilience to attack of its energy infrastructure networks? What is the real level of risk from terrorist/physical manmade attack? At a time of financial crisis, what economic and political changes are needed if we are to renew Europe’s ageing energy infrastructure? Does the recent discovery of cyber attacks on critical transmission electronics worldwide highlight a new vulnerability? What technological solutions could already improve security?

The Programme can be accessed here, and we invite you to register for the event as soon as possible, as registration is mandatory and places are limited to 150 participants.

Please note that inquiries for the coverage of speakers’ travel costs by the EURACOM project should be directly addressed to Nadege GrardFor any other information, including background material, please visit the related SDA event website or contact the EURACOM Consortium directly at katia.kliuyeva@eos-eu.com or 0032 (0) 2 777 0257.
