EOS HIGH LEVEL SECURITY ROUNDTABLE, 21 MARCH 2012, BRUSSELS
The first High Level Security Roundtable, which took place on the 9th of February 2011, kicked off the Dialogue between public and private leaders from the European Security Community. The Public sector was represented by High Level Representatives from the European Commission (with the Commissioners from DG HOME AFFAIRS, ENTREPRISE and TRANSPORT) and EU Agencies, the Hungarian Presidency of the EU, representatives from EU Member States (UK, FR, IT, NL), the Council of the EU and from the European Parliament. The Private sector was represented by key personalities of major Industrial players and Research Centers from the European Security domain.
In 2011, EU leaders reviewed the EU Internal Security Strategy in Action, a strategy which was well received by the Industry and supported by the Member States. The objective of the 2012 Roundtable, under the high patronage of Commissioner Malmström and VP Tajani, will be to dig out, from domains such as Border Surveillance and Civil Aviation Security, some first results of public private cooperation. For these mature domains the 2012 Roundtable will go beyond the initial discussions held in 2011 and will devise mechanisms for future public - private cooperation. It will also discuss next steps and concrete actions for the Security Industrial Policy and an EU Cyber Security Strategy that will be launched by the European Commission in 2012.
The 2012 High Level Security Roundtable will, in an unprecedented approach, gather four European Commissioners (S.Kallas , N.Kroes, C. Malmström and A.Tajani) as well as Ministers from Member States, Members of the European Parliament, representatives of the Council of the European Union and of the European Commission as well as CEOs / directors from main European companies and research centers. The 2012 High Level Security Roundtable is a key event in the year to analyse at the highest public private level, the first successes of the EU Internal Security Strategy and discuss further actions in public private cooperation for the development of a European Security Vision and its associated Industry Policy.
