Soft Target and Critical Infrastructures Protection Working Group

EOS' Soft Target and Critical Infrastructures Protection Working Group facilitates the development and uptake of solutions to protect soft targets and critical infrastructure. This includes promoting a more integrated, privacy compliant, and technologically advanced, approach to ensuring public spaces and infrastructure security.

POLICY ACTIVITIES AND OBJECTIVES

The WG promotes a policy, regulatory and commercial environment that enables the EU to effectively prevent, manage and recover from crises caused by threats to soft targets and critical infrastructure.

The WG focuses its efforts on different areas:

  • Promote, in the short term, the creation of a public-private platform on STCIP to allow a structured dialogue between the security industrial & research community and EU institutions with the objective of preparing the ground for a full-fledged public-private partnership.
  • Promote a more integrated, privacy compliant, and technologically advanced, approach to digital law enforcement to increase the level of urban and infrastructure security.
  • Work with regulators and end-users to set up and define a stable regulatory environment that increases security and counters threats in a manner that is realistic, achievable and acceptable to the industry.
  • Encourage the funding of STCIP-related research and innovation.
  • Promote the implementation of pilot projects in the STCIP research and innovation domain before 2020.
  • Promote European technologies in critical application domains such as, protection of soft targets, critical infrastructures, hybrid threats, CBRNe, and civil protection.
